The Cypress City Senior Center is having a bake sale this Monday and Tuesday, May 6 and 7th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center of Cypress.
At the center, the senior citizens can participate in classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., such as yoga, ceramics, painting and also wellness classes. In addition to classes the center also provides jobs to senior volunteers.
Betty Wilkison, a senior volunteer, said “It’s my favorite day of the week”. Wilkison, whose husband also volunteers by delivering meals to the Center said, “It’s what keeps us going, is being active”.
Bake sale director, Candace Cheung said “To participate please bring store bought baked goods; cookies, brownies, and other sweets, please no home made goods before 1 p.m.”
The proceeds from the bake sale will go towards the various purposes benefiting the center and it’s staff and the seniors who come to the center. Cypress College student Katelyn Gilbert, a Human Services major thinks the bake sale is a great idea. “I think giving back to seniors is important, and the center provides a lot of fun activities for them”.
So go ahead and bring your treats and enjoy giving back in a fun way.
