The City of Cypress’ website released information on Measure P, allowing voters to decide on changes to Cypress’ City Charter. Measure P:
- Would allow the City of Cypress to publish legal notices and hearings on the City’s website rather than in newspapers. This part of the Charter hasn’t been updated since 1956 (64 years)
- It would increase the number of days to fill a City Council vacancy from 30 to 60 days in accordance with State law. This part of the Charter hasn’t been updated since 1977 (43 years)
- Would allow the City to respond to changes in California’s election laws, including setting election procedures, through the public hearing process. This part of the Charter hasn’t been updated since 1977 (43 years)
Measure P does not make any changes to term limits in Cypress.
