Looking somewhere close to eat by Cypress College? Try the Sandwich House.
The Sandwich House, 9187 Valley View St., is small restaurant that serves Vietnamese sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, and other Vietnamese items. They also offer green tea and dessert bread with every order, located across the street from Cypress College.
They offer Vietnamese sandwiches called Bánh mì, which has meat, cilantro, pickled radish and carrots, and pate (meat paste). To put it simply, it is a Vietnamese cold cut sandwich. Sandwich House also offers croissant sandwiches which are made with a croissant, meat, lettuce, and tomatoes. The price of the food is very reasonable.
“Food was damn good,” said Isaiah Carbrea, History major at Cypress College, 19, said he comes at least once a week. “I get number 21, with Vietnamese veggies. Boom, it’s beautiful.”
Another student, Devlin Perez, major undeclared, 20, said, “Pretty good and affordable. The lady who runs the joint is really nice.” He even decided to buy a second sandwich for lunch.
Upon entering the restaurant, Ann, owner of Sandwich House, greets customers with a smile and takes their order. Customers sit down while their food is prepared. While waiting, Ann comes out with complimentary green tea.
She treats every customer with a smile and ensures they return for more.
“Alright, I’ll see next Monday right?” she asks Perez as he leaves.
“Of course!” he replied.
Ann comes out and talks to customers, refills tea, and makes sure customers are satisfied whenever business slows down. She even offered tea to Devlin’s friends that did not purchase any food and she did it will a smile.
The Sandwich House is within walking distance from the campus, it is in the same complex as Phat Straw. $5 can buy a sandwich, green tea, dessert, and friendly customer service. They are open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
