I blame my mother, the woman who first introduced me to caffeine, for this addiction. For as long as I can remember I’ve been waking up to the bittersweet scent of freshly brewed coffee, but it wasn’t until high school that I was able to really have my own cup. The older I’ve grown the more caffeine I’ve consumed and while I used to believe that it was just a stereotype- the whole “college students are coffee fiends”- turns out I’m living the stereotype.
Either way, I’ve decided to do the dirty work for you guys, hitting up all the best spots for you to get your morning fix at. Whether you just want to get away from your cute but wild one-year-old nephew who just can’t keep his little hands off your laptop (trust me I would know), or you just want to sip your coffee and eat your muffin while your bestie spills the tea on her new roommate, tune in every week for my personal picks of our local Orange County coffee shops.
First stop: [in-sīt]
Located inside of The Source in Buena Park this coffee shop is less than five miles from Cypress College. My first impression was fitting for it’s location- The Source- secluded. The inside was bright and cute, and yes, I said cute. As for the drinks, I got a vanilla blend and it was amazing. It wasn’t until later that I realized I didn’t explore the menu as long as I should’ve- the barista was so attentive, I felt I needed to pick fast! The service was great and the pricing is reasonable, averaging around three to five dollars. Here’s where I get a little more real, not that I wasn’t being real before- it was a little loud for me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t need to hear crickets; however, I wouldn’t study for an exam here. This is definitely the spot to bring that study partner who just has so much juicy gossip you can’t seem to end up studying anyway. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop by for a great place to catch up with friends!
With the help of Yelp, word of mouth, and other bloggers, such as The Girl With The Coffee Colored Eyes (hey, girl!), I have a great list, but of course feel free to send in as many recommendations as you can think of to crodriguez.cychron@gmail.com!
