Cypress College Cafe, located on the lower floor of the Admissions and Records building, is a food service with a total of nine employees that are happy to help students make healthy choices when they come in for breakfast lunch or dinner.
Ines Sanchez, 26, Criminal Justice major, manager of the Cypress Cafe was happy to inform The Chronicle about their new changes and exciting news.
“I have been working at Cypress Cafe for two years now,” said Sanchez. “When I got here, we just changed our meals to Sbarros. That alone has been a success.”
This year has been a success for the cafe. As they add more healthier meals, their traffic has increased, according to Sanchez. Cafe management had a meeting with the Associated Students’ Food Committee, and students are pushing more for breakfast. So now the cafe is extending breakfast until it is all gone for the day.
“We are now trying to decide what we should bring in next,” she adds. “Associated Students does surveys on what they like and do not like about meals and we love the fact they are doing this because this will help us whether it is good or bad.”
“I’ve been working here since the beginning of this semester,” said Dominique De La Cruz, 20, criminal justice major and cashier at Cypress Cafe. “I love working here because I meet new people everyday.”
“I love the new items we are bringing in to the cafe. We want to give our customers options, healthier options that is,” said Carol Lenyes, 24, a cook at Cypress Cafe
Cafe management is unsure on what they will do next as far as meals, but they are only pushing for tasty, healthy items on their menu.
The Cypress Cafe, open Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., is ready to serve Cypress College students with nutritious meals and nonstop smiling faces.
