Cypress College is working toward enhancing both sustainability and community engagement with the development of its new student garden. This exciting initiative, spearheaded by the college’s Environmental Sustainability Club, aims to provide a dedicated space for students to explore gardening, learn about sustainable practices and connect with one another.
The construction of the garden began on Nov. 10, 2025, and is expected to continue until Feb. 27, 2026. Located on campus between Gym 1 and 2, the project has been carefully planned to blend educational opportunities with hands-on experience.
Once completed, the garden will serve as a valuable resource for students interested in environmental studies, as well as anyone who wants to learn more about growing food and supporting local ecosystems.
The student garden will not only focus on sustainability but will also foster a sense of community within the college. It is designed to be a space where students can come together to collaborate on gardening projects, share knowledge and build relationships.
The Environmental Sustainability Club’s involvement in the project underscores its commitment to creating a greener campus and supporting the development of eco-conscious initiatives.
While construction is underway, students can look forward to the garden’s opening in 2026. It promises to be a great addition to Cypress College’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and community involvement.
