The Cypress College softball team has opened the 2026 season with a strong start.
The Chargers began the campaign with a 5-2 victory over Cerritos College on Feb. 3, using timely hitting and steady pitching to secure the season opening win at home.
The win was followed by a competitive 2025 season in which Cypress achieved an impressive 15-3 record in conference play and continued to develop depth across its roster. Returning players and new additions have helped the Chargers carry that experience into the new season.
Through the early portion of the schedule, Cypress has compiled a winning record, showing balance on both sides of the ball. The Chargers have generated consistent offensive production while limiting opponents defensively, a combination that has helped them remain competitive in years past.
Head coach Brad Pickler, now in his 39th season leading the program, has played a major role in developing one of the most established softball programs in the region. Under his leadership, Cypress continues to emphasize disciplined at-bats, aggressive baserunning and strong pitching performances.
As the season progresses, the Chargers will look to build consistency and carry early momentum against top opponents in conference play.
