The Career Planning and Workforce Development Center hosted its annual Spring 2025 Career Fair on Wednesday, April 23.
The event hosted over 300 students, who engaged with over 50 local employers and learned about job or internship opportunities. Students had the chance to connect with many local employers to gain experience and exposure for their career goals.
“This event was very successful and very busy,” stated Career Center Coordinator Angela Sardan. The first 200 students who received a career kit also received complimentary Sony earbuds donated by the Dean of Counseling and Student Development. Moreover, students had a chance to use the LinkedIn Photo Booth to take professional headshots for their profiles.
The event successfully gave students opportunities to get hired. Juliana Ortega, a student participating in the fair, was interviewed and hired on the spot as an Applied Behavioral Analysis Technician at Asteri Behavioral Treatment Center.
The fair gave exposure to the Career Center itself, allowing students to become more aware and open to using the center’s resources.
For future events, Sardan would like to get more employers that are more specific to programs like STEM, Arts, and Business. Each student was able to take a survey after the event to help the Career Center learn about the parts that were successful and what needed improvement.
During the event, Sardan stated, “one comment that really stuck with us though was about putting on events like this more yearly rather than once per semester.” This event is all about the students in making sure we give them the best possible opportunity to succeed in life after Cypress College with making lasting connections for the future.
