Disneyland Resort reopened Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to the public.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been under refurbishment since January 2013. The projected reopen date for Big Thunder Mountain was supposed to be on October 31, 2013. With some minor issues such as the track, The California Division of Occupational Safety asked for a revision of the track before passing the ride. The Walt Disney Corporation decided to push the reopen date back. With many test runs throughout the course of the past 14 months. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health finally gave Big Thunder Mountain the all clear.
Mikael Calandrino, 24, Fine Arts is an attractions Cast Member, he received a private screening of the ride. He said, ” The best part of the ride was the improvement of the track, it also made the ride faster.”
“It’s so much smoother than before.” said Alyssa Lilley, 20, Marketing. The refurbishment included a new track, new town and new special effects throughout the ride.
“The special effects make it all worth it.” said Jackie Young, 19, Independent musician. The special effects have made the ride 4-dimensional. Big Thunder Mountain has become an interactive ride for guests of all ages. The Walt Disney Corporation provided Cast Member with tickets for a special preview of the ride on March 7 . Prior to the preview it had been a long time since refurbishments had been made on the ride. Disney added a lot of new features to the ride to make it current with the new advancement in ride technology. Just as they did for The Haunted Mansion during the winter season.
The ride re-opened on March 17 to the public.
