Cypress College Theater has officially ended its 2013 Fall Season. The sets have been tore down and the student actors kicked onto the streets. Now it is time to find new stars. For those of you that saw Rent or Lost in Yonkers and wondered how you can be a part, here is the answer: Go Audition!
Next spring, Cypress College Theatre will produce the musical, “Big River”, a story of the adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Auditions for the musical will be held December 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theater. Students interested in auditioning must bring 16 bars of a prepared song from a musical theater catalog. Come ready to dance as well. Men must wear jazz shoes and women must have character shoes. Contact director, Jim Hormel at jhormel@cypresscollege.edu with any questions. If you want to avoid singing and dancing, auditions for the play, “Nickel and Dimed” will be held December 9 and 10 at 7 .pm. in the Studio Theater. Prepare a one-minute monologue for auditions. Contact director Mark Marjarian atmmajarian@cypresscollege.edu regarding any questions.
For those of you strictly into dancing, auditions for the People in Motion Dance Concert will be held Wednesday, January 29 2014 at the 6 p.m. in Gym II room 215. Don’t worry about having a prepared audition, just come wearing dance attire and prepared to dance! If you have any questions about auditioning please contact Erin Landry at elandry@cypresscollege.edu, or Maha Afra at mafra@cypresscollege.edu .
Come and audition for the Cypress College Spring season. If you don’t audition, make sure to support the Theater Arts Department and watch your fellow students. “Big River”will open Friday, March 7 at 8 p.m. and will run for two weeks. “Nickel and Dimed” opens April 4 at 8 p.m. and People in Motion will end the season May 8-11. General admission ticket prices range from $15-$20 but there are discounts for students and children. Theater and art productions are one of the most exciting events on campus so make sure to be a part of Spring Season!
