After what has shaped up to be Cypress College’s best enrollment year in a long time, the upcoming Transfer Fair is expected to be an important event for many students on campus. The fair is designed to help students coordinate their futures regarding school transfers and/or potential jobs following their graduation.
Dr. David Mosely Booze, the director of Admissions & Records, shared insights about the purpose of the upcoming Transfer Fair.“The purpose of this event is to provide Cypress College students with useful information about how best to ensure the continuation of support services at 4-year colleges and universities, and to make sure they know about the services that are still available to them before graduation,” said Booze. He also emphasized how including a job fair at the event allows students to connect with valuable prospective employers for future reference, especially if the students choose to pursue their career immediately after graduating from Cypress.
This year’s fair will be a unique blend of academic and career-focused resources. In addition to clarifying what the event is about and how it is going to differ from previous events, Booze commented on who the main groups hosting the event would be. The groups are Admissions and Records, the Transfer Center, Career Center, and Career Technical Education. With support from these four departments, the event holds significant value for both students and the campus community..
Each department contributes its expertise to the fair. Whether it’s evaluating transfer eligibility or a connection with hands-on training courses for future employment. The departments work hard each year to plan this fair. The fair is held three times each school year, in October, November, and March.
This year, the event will take place on Thursday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the campus pond.
