CYPRESS CHRONICLE
During spring everyone was looking forward to the summer with the hope that this summer was going to be a return to normal life. Many felt optimistic even President Biden on June 2nd promised Americans a “Summer of freedom.”
“America is headed into the summer dramatically different from last year’s summer: a summer of freedom, a summer of joy, a summer of get-togethers and celebrations. An all – America summer that this country deserves after a long, long dark winter that we’ve all endured.”
Said President Biden as he urged more people to get vaccinated. But the “ Summer of freedom” faded away due to the delta variant. Dr-Paul Offit, a member of the US food and drug administration, vaccine advisory committee told CNN in August that the number of cases in August of this year were ” in many ways worse than last year”.
Leaving the state and the federal government without many options other than to start issuing mandates to vaccinate as many people as possible.
As of Monday, 673,985 people in the US have died of Covid-19, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
If the current trends continue 98,000 Americans could die by the start of December, for an overall death toll of nearly 730,000 according to one influential model, from the University of Washington.
It will be shameful if that milestone is reached by December, it has been more than 18 months into the pandemic so most people know what works and what doesn’t, masks, vaccines, and social distancing work, therefore, everyone should follow the science to beat this pandemic.
