This semester, Cypress College students will no longer have access to free parking on campus. Students are required to pay $40 for a parking permit. The last day of the grace period is Sept. 16, after that deadline, all vehicles will be required to have a permit displayed on their vehicle or risk getting a parking ticket.
For students who take the bus to school, the North Orange County Community College District has partnered with the Orange County Transportation Authority for the OCTA Bus Pass Program. This program allows full and part-time students at Cypress College free access to any OC fixed bus route for free. The pass serves all nine Orange County community colleges.
According to accounting technician Lisa Morales, the cost for general student parking is $40, and the price for students enrolled through the Community College Promise Program parking is $30. Motorcycle parking is $20.
The Cypress College Department of Campus Safety conducts on-campus parking enforcement, all parking permits must be displayed on the vehicle’s lower left side of the windshield. Parking citations are issued under the authority granted by the California Vehicle Code and Cypress College parking regulations.
All vehicles parking on campus must display a current and valid parking permit. Failure to display a permit may result in a parking citation. Anyone receiving a parking citation has the right to submit an appeal within 21 days of the date the citation was issued or within 14 days from the mailing date of the “notice of parking violation.”
There are one-day parking permits available for purchase at these on-campus locations:
Parking Lot 1 next to the ATM at the business building
Parking Lot 4 On the sidewalk along the NOCE building
College Circle Drive-On the sidewalk across from parking lot 5
The cost of one-day parking is $3 and is valid until 11:59 pm on the day of the purchase. One-day parking permits allow one vehicle to park in any student-marked parking space.
Students can download the OC Bus app on Play Store (Android), and App Store (IOS). Once downloaded, students will be prompted to create an account using the same email that they used to register for Cypress College classes. After the account is created, the bus pass will be active. When the students board, they scan the pass on their mobile devices.
OC Bus app passes are renewed each semester upon enrollment. Students must maintain enrolled status to maintain eligibility for the program. For students who do not have access to a mobile smartphone and want to use the Bus Pass, please contact the Student Activities Center at (714)-484-7199 for more information on how to access the pass.
