The Cypress College Library is now open with new hours to accommodate student demand. The library is a great resource for students as they settle into their new routines for the semester, the extended service hours allow for a safe space, indoors for students to study on campus.
This semester the library is offering students a variety of services to aid them in their college journey. From the usual checking out of a book, or calculator they can also check out a Chromebook for those students who don’t have access to a personal laptop.
Students all have full access to computers in the library where they work on their assignments as well as using these computers to print anything they may need to turn in physically to their professors.
The library was encouraged to extend hours and services this semester after previous students had concerns that their hours of operation needed to accommodate the students who are on campus in the evenings.
The new hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and they are closed Friday through Sunday. The library was originally only open until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2 p.m. on Fridays and closed Saturday and Sunday in previous semesters.
While this change in hours is a step in the right direction, some students may need these resources and services available on the weekends.
Located on the first floor of the library building is the Learning Resource Center. In this center, students can find academic support services like tutoring for mathematics, writing, and other courses.
The Chronicle reached out to the Cypress College Library admin staff to speak about the new services and potential concerns from students but they refused to comment.
