“Money Heist” is an original Spanish drama show also known as “La Casa de Papel” and the fourth season streamed on April 3, 2020. “At the beginning of quarantine, I started to watch Money Heist and fell in love with the characters and the mystery of the show itself. You won’t regret watching it,” said Sayra Hernandez. The plot to this series upholds several twists and mysteries that focus on serious social agendas and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The Netflix drama is about a group of 8 people who are led by a mysterious man known as “The Professor” whose overall goal is to manipulate the police to carry out his plans without harming people. The eight thieves use red jumpsuits and a Dali mask to disguise themselves. It is the perfect drama series to binge watch during the Covid-19 lockdown and was rated eight stars by Artistoteles Fotiadis on IMDbTV.
On March 13, 2020, the official start of the Covid-19 lockdown, the telenovela series “Elite” was aired on Netflix. Cynthia Rodriguez said, “Elite was my favorite show to watch especially since the pandemic started and I had nothing better to do.” This murder mystery drama will keep the audience speechless and surprised. Romance and friendships play a big part in this series and will leave the audience absolutely shocked on who ends up with who. This series is 10/10 recommended and will keep you on the edge of your seats.
“Locked Up”, known as the Spanish version of “Orange is the New Black,” recently came out with Season 5 on July 31, 2020. “Locked Up” is a crime and drama series about prison. The main character is a young girl who was sent to prison for one bad decision and has to learn to cope with the rules of the prison to find her way out alive. It is an intense Spanish drama thriller that will keep the audience swept off their feet and is worth watching. Cypress student Melissa said, “I began watching this show once it came out on Netflix and was waiting for the final season to come out. I’ve been watching so many shows the moment quarantine started but this one has to be my favorite one. I was excited to watch and the ending will keep you shocked.”
Another outstanding show that has been watched during this pandemic is “That 70’s Show”. It is about a group of teenage friends living in the suburbs of Wisconsin and their funny adventures as they navigate their life through adulthood. “I could rewatch this show over and over because it has been one of my favorite shows for a long time. I started rewatching it during quarantine to keep me entertained. If you want a good laugh I would highly recommend this show,” said Ricardo Rodriguez. It includes mostly comedy, romance, and drama. Cypress student Brianna said “This show puts you in an uplifting mood and I recommend watching it with a group of friends. I love the characters and never get tired of watching it.”
“The Office” is a very popular show that is seen by many young people who love great humor. It is a sitcom of a parody-documentary based on the everyday work lives of the employees at a paper company, the “Dunder Mifflin Paper Company”. The show is a favorite amongst many students as it never fails to make them laugh. “When I first started watching the office I didn’t like it but I re-watched it when the lockdown began and I never thought I would think it was so funny but I did. It is more dark humor and you must really understand the show to like it. Overall, it is a great show to watch and will have you laughing,” Brian Robles said.
