It’s been a busy last few weeks for the sports teams at Cypress College, as many teams continue their push for a spot in the playoffs in November.
Men’s soccer currently has a record of 3-3-1 and is coming off a 5-1 loss against Moorpark. They will continue their season on Tuesday, Oct. 1 against Fullerton, as they prepare for a month full of inter-conference matchups. Women’s soccer is currently undefeated, as they sit at a 6-0 record. They will play Mt. San Antonio on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and then play Fullerton on Tuesday, Oct. 1. They will play their last fourteen games of the season against inter-conference opponents. The women’s soccer team lost in a shootout in state championships to Folsom Lake last season, and they aim to get back there this season.
Men’s water polo currently has a record of 6-6, recently going 1-3 in the Mt. SAC tournament this past weekend. They will play Fullerton on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 4:15 p.m. as they approach the halfway point of their season. Women’s water polo currently has a 3-3 record and will be participating in the Mt. SAC tournament starting on Friday, Sept. 27, and ending on Saturday, Sept. 28. They will play six matches in the tournament depending on how well they do. They will play Fullerton on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 3:00 p.m. after the tournament.
Women’s volleyball has been playing well, though their record sits at 4-7 on the season, they’ve won four out of the five matches they’ve played in the month of September. They’ve also swept all three sets in their last four wins. They will host Santa Ana on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. and play Santiago Canyon on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m. to end off September.
Men’s and Women’s basketball will start scrimmages soon as the men will host Antelope Valley on Friday, Oct. 11 at 2:00 p.m. and will play Glendale on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 4:00 p.m. They will open their season on Saturday, Nov. 2 against Grossmont at 5:00 p.m. Women’s basketball will host Hope International University for two scrimmages before the season. One will be on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, Oct 24 at 4:30 p.m. They will open their season against LA Southwest on Sat. Nov. 2 at 3:00 p.m.
