The City of Downey’s annual Greek Food Festival at St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church will be held on June 7 and 8.
“I go every year to the festival just for the lamb!” said Wendy Lopez, 22, Psychology major.
The festival offers a wide variety of different Greek foods each year. The most popular type of food at the festival is the lamb on a split. Other food that is offered are pork, Gyros, Loukaniko, and different Greek desserts. Aside from the food, there will also be live Greek music.
“After I eat all the delicious food they have to offer, I dance it off.” said Samantha Medrano, 20, Communications major.
So after all the food and dancing is done, shopping is next on the list. Different vendors who focus in art, fashion, and jewelry will also at the festival.
“Though I never buy anything other than food and drinks, some of the jewelry that is brought is gorgeous,” said Christina Pimentel, 23, Accounting major.
This is considered to be the biggest Greek festival in southern California. Come down and get a taste of the Greek culture just 20 minutes from campus.
