Cypress College and the North Orange Continuing Education or NOCE have a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress where they offer enrolled students free on campus child care. The program offers the children counseling appointments, tutoring sessions and time to study.
The Boys and Girls Club staff make sure that each child’s homework is prioritized. After their homework is completed, indoor and outdoor activities are also offered to provide a fun, colorful and educational environment during their stay.
This program has staff members who are trained to properly supervise and engage with the children in games and crafts, and has been on campus for the past three semesters. The staff have witnessed some of the most progressive character development with the children within their schoolwork, their social abilities and behavior because of the one-on-one interactions and for also making connections.
The Boys and Girls Club on campus is open to children who are in first to twelfth grade from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday all throughout the semester. Each parent must be a Cypress College or NOCE student in order to enroll their child, and must provide their school schedule as well as contact information.
Parents are also required to stay on campus for their children’s safety in case of any emergencies. The children may be dropped off in the NOCE building 18, room 117 during the hours of operation. The Boys and Girls Club of Cypress also enforces that the children must be picked up by 6:30 p.m.
