The Student Health and Wellness Center is implementing new hours for students on campus. The Center is located by building 17, in parking lot 4. The walk-in mental health crisis hours are from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and the Tele-health/online services for mental health evening hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Center staff have established a new service called eCheckup to Go, a free anonymous mental health screener available to all students. To access the screener students need to visit the mental health website, there they will receive a certificate along with personalized suggestions and resources.
The mental health department wants to promote mental health crisis prevention and have resources to support students who may be struggling. Their goal is to expand more offices on campus and counselors to ensure students get more comfortable and familiar with this topic.
Anna Spencer-Lonetti, a mental health counselor and the Active Minds Club Adviser, wants students to seek guidance before a crisis occurs, “I want the students to know they have support and help them in any way. We have Active Mind groups that meet weekly,” said Lonetti. Moving forward there will be peer support students who come and pilot test educators with workshops and pop-ups for mental health.
Starting in the Spring semester a Wellness Vending Machine will be on campus located in the Learning Resource Center. All items will be priced at $1. Additional information about the items available in the vending machine will be provided soon.
Reminder: The Winter Wellness Clinic will be offering free flu shots at the health center to students, facility, staff, and the public on Wednesday, Nov 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The service is available to individuals 18 and over.
