With the Presidential Election finally over, America will now prepare for a new administration that will take place for the next four years.
Now that Donald Trump has won, the aftermath of the election was disappointing for many people, which is understandable. He’s a polarizing figure in politics and has his fair share of supporters and haters. I personally don’t like him because of his unprofessionalism, and the fact that he’s a felon–who will now run the country–sounds bad enough as it is. However, I’m interested to see how these next four years work under him, though I think a lot of his policies are dumb and aren’t going to work.
I wasn’t advocating for Kamala Harris as president either; I know a lot of people liked her, which I understand, but I believe there were better candidates that could have been chosen from the Democratic Party. I think the biggest downfall of her campaign was time. With Biden dropping out of the race so close to election season, she didn’t have much time to prepare for her campaign and it seemed a bit rushed in the end.
I won’t lie, I was shocked that Trump ended up winning; he won every single swing state. I thought Harris would win in the same manner as Biden did in the 2020 election against Trump. Every poll online expressed how close the race is, and that didn’t really turn out to be the case.
Even after the debate, Trump said the most blasphemous thing I’ve ever heard someone say about healthcare: “they’re eating the dogs […] I have concepts of a plan.” All of that didn’t matter in the end. I’m assuming that people voted for him to get rid of inflation and increased gas prices under the Biden administration. However, that isn’t really Biden’s fault since he was taking over a struggling post-COVID economy. I encourage voters to do their research on who they vote for–something that isn’t normalized anymore
Trump’s term is due to start on Jan. 20, 2025; he will have the next four years to supposedly “Make America Great Again.” He will likely have the Senate and House help him, noting their notable Republican background. One last thing: if these next four years are bad, no one can blame the Democrats.
