The Spotlight Drag Show will take place on April 24 in the FASS lobby, doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7 p.m.
The show will be hosted by Terra Acevedo, whose drag name is Honey.
Acevedo worked at the Pride Center three years before hosting drag workshops on campus two years ago. These workshops are held each Friday.
The event features a variety of performers using the drag names: P0N33, SIOUXXIE HYDE, Cupid De Vile MrRoach, Captain Proxxy Plunderbooty, Honeymoonsuite, ItzygirlM3gan, Gargingo G Garguack and Dulle Dupayne.
The performance promises to showcase different styles of drag, including drag queens, kings and creatures. Creatures are lesser-known types of drag that can include characters like robots, aliens, vampires, and more.
Drag workshops play an important role in helping participants increase their creativity according to pride support staff member, Micheal Morales.
“They provide an outlet for people to explore gender and empower themselves through the process. I love what it does for our students, it helps them become more comfortable in their skin,” Morales said.
This event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend and support the performers.
