The auditions for the spring plays on campus, “Hello Dolly” and “Twelfth Night” are coming up next week, on Monday, Dec. 2, and Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. Callbacks will take place the following day, Dec. 4 at the Campus Theatre.
According to the Cypress College Theatre website, participants who wish to audition for “Hello Dolly” must bring clothes to move in for their audition and be prepared with “16 bars of classical/musical theater style song.” They also strongly encourage anyone who plays an instrument to audition. High schoolers are also allowed to participate in the plays and no experience is needed to audition as well.
The rehearsal dates will be Monday through Friday, the time frame is currently undetermined. The performance dates for this show are March 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m. and March 16, and 23 at 4 p.m. all in the Campus theatre.
Participants who wish to audition for William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” must prepare a “classical 1-minute monologue.”. The rehearsal times for the play are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. The performance dates are May 2, 3, 9, and 10 at 7 p.m. and May 4 and 11 at 4 p.m. all in the Studio Theatre.
According to the website, “Those who are cast in either play will have to register as a student at Cypress College and enroll in a musical theatre performance class and sign up to work for a separate production”. All auditionees will have to fill out an audition form and bring it to their audition. Additional information regarding both plays can be found on the Cypress College Theatre website.
