Ian Campos is set to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 5, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. A preliminary hearing is when the District Attorney presents the evidence against the defendant and then the Judge decides whether the evidence presented will stand trial, if not then the charges against the defendant are dropped.
Campos accused of a series of assaults that occurred on campus in September has pleaded not guilty to the charges of one count of kidnapping to commit robbery, rape, oral copulation, or sodomy, one count of assault with intent to commit sexual offense, three counts of sexual battery, and two counts of battery and bail was set to $1,000,000.00.
According to court records, Campos is being represented by Public Defender Erin Lindquist, and the people are represented by Deputy District Attorney Sean Patrick Riordan.
In September, three female students reported to Cypress College’s Campus Safety that they were assaulted on school grounds by a man, who was later identified as Campos.
Students became aware of these events after an email was sent from the Director of Communications, Marc S. Posner stating all the current information about what had occurred and a description of the suspect.
On Sept. 25, 2024, Campos was arrested by Cypress Police on the charge of sexual assault, he was booked to Orange County Jail, was arraigned on Sept. 30, 2024, and has been remanded in jail awaiting the preliminary hearing.
