It’s officially playoff season for many of the teams at Cypress College; the teams will have to prepare for their biggest challenge of the season.
The women’s soccer team is preparing for their playoff run after a dominant regular season in which they have a 16-1-3 record, pending their regular season finale against Santa Ana on Friday, Nov. 15 at 3:00 p.m. They will begin their playoff run on Wed. Nov. 20 and are currently in 2nd place in the conference. They are undefeated at home and are on a four game winning streak as they aim to get back to the state championship this season. The men’s soccer team currently has a record of 8-5-7 and are 4th place in the Orange Empire Conference, finishing off with a 5-2-6 record in conference. They will wrap up their season against Santa Ana on Friday, Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. They are coming off a 1-0 win against Santiago Canyon Tuesday.
The men’s water polo team ended their season with a 13-12 record and went 0-2 in the OEC Championships this past weekend. They lost 14-10 in the OEC 3rd place game to Saddleback, as they finished the season with a 3-4 record in the conference. They will begin their playoff run on Thursday, Nov. 14 against an unknown opponent. The women’s water polo team ended their regular season with a 12-11 record, but struggled against conference opponents with a 1-6 record. They went 0-2 in the OEC Championships this past weekend and will play an unknown opponent on Thursday, Nov. 14 to start the playoffs.
Women’s volleyball has a 12-12 record on the season with a 9-5 conference record. They have two games left remaining on their schedule before the playoffs start. They will play Golden West on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and will host Saddleback on Tuesday, Nov. 19, both at 6:00 p.m. They are coming off a 3-2 loss to Orange Coast.
The men’s basketball team just recently started their season, they sit at a 3-1 so far. They are coming off of a 81-62 win against LA Valley and will play Mt San Antonio on Thursday, Nov. 14 and Antelope Valley on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Skip Robinson Tournament this weekend. The women’s basketball team has a 2-1 record so far and most recently beat Fresno 67-59. They play Mira Costa on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
