Election day has arrived and the results of this election will change the lives of many.
To vote in today’s election students can visit the Cypress College Library, if they are not registered to vote workers will be there to support. For students not on campus today, they can check https://ocvote.gov/ to find the nearest voting center or ballot drop-off boxes.
The big races happening today include the Presidential, Proposition, North Orange County Community College District, and the Cypress City Council.

Presidential
In the presidential election, the Democratic candidate running for election is Vice President Kamala D. Harris, and the Republican candidate is former President Donald J. Trump. These two candidates will make history no matter who wins, Harris would be the first female president, and Trump would be the first convicted felon to become president.
Along with the presidential candidates are their running mates for vice presidential elections. Running with Harris is the Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, and running with Trump is Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.
Proposition
Propositions in elections are a big part of the community, voting for propositions is important for California because it can steer the direction of how your community is governed, including health care, crimes, and the education system. According to this year’s ballot, there are 10 state propositions. If passed the proposition will go into effect early next year. North Orange County Community College District
The school board has three open seats in the North Orange County Community College District. Six new candidates are running for election, and two candidates are running for re-election. District areas 2, 5, and 7 are up for voting in the upcoming election. The District Area 2 candidates are incumbent Ed Lopez and Construction Project Manager Jack Daniel Fennell. District Area 5 candidates are Governing Board Member, Anaheim Elementary School District, Area 4 Mark Lopez, and Orange County Businessman Steve Slawson. The District Area 7 candidates are incumbent Ryan Bent and Education Policy Advisor Kyle Miller. Cypress City Council
The Cypress City Council has nine candidates, three for Districts 3 and 4. The candidates for District 3 are Kyle Change, Gayel Kaplan, and Mark H. Plager. District 4 candidates are Blaze Bhence, Glen Button, and Leo Medrano.
