Cypress College’s third Illuminated event has been postponed due to the forecast of rain on Thursday, Nov. 20. The event will now take place on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. and will feature an expanded lineup, including two additional Visual and Performing Arts departments. Highlights of the evening will include a dance performance and a photo department showcase.
The performing arts and media arts design departments will be using the Gateway Plaza as the canvas for the show. The event will feature projection mapping, a technique where video is projected onto non-flat surfaces to create stunning visual effects. This captivating medium is designed to enhance the experience with dynamic lights, sounds, and motion.
Students from Cypress College, high schools in the surrounding area, and local artists are encouraged to participate and will have the opportunity to earn licenses for popular artistry software programs such as Resolume Arena, MadMapper, and Resolume Avenue. The event is also family-friendly, welcoming guests of all ages to enjoy an evening filled with art, entertainment, and community spirit.
According to the official Instagram pages for the performing arts and media arts design departments, the collaboration between Cypress students, off-campus artists, and high-tech equipment promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. Illuminated Visions 3.0 aims to showcase the power of digital art and bring together artists from various walks of life to celebrate creativity in its most dynamic form.
