Whether it be the gusts of wind ruining your hair or falling temperatures making it hard to get up in the morning, the fall season is here and these are Cypress College students’ fall fashion go to’s.
As the fall season commences, the weather is still slowly shifting even though many are still holding onto their tank tops and shorts; nothing new to California natives.
With the quick transition in seasons follows the same in the fashion industry. Fashion week, last month, introduced a new mix of formal chic with sensual casual. Brands like Versace, COS and Fear Of God showed their love for the oversized, sharp blazers and more formal wear. This comes with no surprise as influencer, and my personal favorite nepo baby, Sophia Richie popularized the old money, conservative fashion look.
Crop tops are being opted out for baby tee’s and trousers are becoming more preferred than distressed jeans. This fall, red is all the rave but not just any red, a deep cherry red. Incorporating this color in shoes, accessories and coats is one of my favorite ways of styling the color for the fall weather. Browns, oranges, and neutrals continue being staple fall colors. Loafers, Sambas and flats are on every Pinterest user’s feed as the hottest shoe of the year.
For Cypress students, comfy is the ideal way to dress but others get excited to dress up. Many students look forward to finally being able to style layering pieces and wear all the items that the summer heat prohibits them from wearing.
Psychology major Gisselle Vargas said, “What I like to wear for fall are fall colors. I like to wear a lot of sweaters and warm tones; anything to keep me warm like beanies. I also love long socks ”. Warm tones, in the fall, are a great way to set the fall vibe and be one with the season. Burnt oranges, honey yellows and cherry reds are a few colors you can incorporate into your fall wardrobe.
Business major Kaili Burke is also obsessed with warmer tones in the fall and prioritizes warmth, she said,“My staples [in the fall] would be cardigans with flared jeans or leggings. I like to wear my DocMartens because when it’s raining, I can step in the puddles. I like to wear beanies and look forward to it since I can’t really wear it in the hot, summer weather”.
Chunkie shoes are perfect for the fall weather especially when unexpected storms, most recently Hurricane Hilary, cause flooding and damage to one’s footwear. Uggs and Clogs are a must for the fall weather and loved by many regardless of the season but are commonly known for being irresistible to harsh weather; let’s protect our suede shoes and leave them at home where they’re safe. However, if you can’t help resist comfy footwear, blue skies are the best environment to wear out Uggs, Clogs or any other suede shoe.
This fall fashion season is filled with pieces from the past and more modern ones. Taking these to create a look that is both comfortable and stylish is very convenient during this time as running into “sweaty” situations is less likely to occur.
Each season has its respected fashion outline that one follows in order to stay stylish and fit in with the changes surrounding them. The fall is the time to be bold with your wardrobe and dress up. Take fashion risks this fall season and who knows, maybe you’ll end up on someone else’s fashion board.
