Cypress College’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) will host its fourth annual 5K Run/Walk in collaboration with Puente on Monday, May 5. Students, staff, and the local community are welcome to participate.
Check-in will be at the VRC at 11:30 a.m. Though online registration for the event has closed, interested participants can still register in person on the day of. The $35 entry fee per participant comes with a finisher’s medal, T-shirt, chelaguas, tacos, and a race bag. Runners are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as the route will be spread across campus.
According to the VRC, participants will start at the VRC, run around the pond twice, head towards the library, run on the outskirts of the campus towards the theatre building, then head back to the VRC, where the finish line is located. The event coordinators plan to place directional signs throughout the route and explain the course before the run/walk begins.
As a fundraising event for student veterans on campus, 100% of proceeds will go towards scholarships, emergency grants, and other camaraderie-building activities, including, but not limited to, enhancing communication, social events, team-building exercises, and volunteer work.
