Cypress College released an advertisement to the local community during Super Bowl weekend to showcase campus success and how Cypress can help support future students.
The advertisement aired on the local Spectrum cable broadcast as part of Fox Sports. It was broadcast in two languages, English and Spanish, to encourage students and families to join the Cypress College community. The commercial cost the school around $1,000, compared to the common 8 million dollar commercial cost seen by brands in the main broadcast.
The advertisement showcased the vast possibilities they could achieve in an inclusive community. It featured current students, alumni, and faculty who contributed to shaping the rich and supportive environment at Cypress College. This personal touch aimed to resonate with viewers, making them feel a sense of belonging and excitement about the opportunities available at Cypress College.
Student Sofia Ramirez, a biology major, said, “I was very intimidated coming to college in the first place.” Ramirez reflected on how she felt proud to represent Cypress because she already brags about the campus to her family and peers.
Cypress College highlights the favorable nature of its community through its programs and student services. The ad emphasized the guaranteed admissions and the two-year free tuition opportunity for first-time college students, making higher education accessible and affordable. The message was to demonstrate the college’s dedication to supporting students in their academic and career journeys.
Marc S. Posner, Director of Campus Communications, stated that “[he] wants students to take [the college’s dedication] to heart, to know that students can walk into a building [like the] student center and ask anybody for help because it’s our job for students to be successful so that they can meet their goals.”
By investing in such a high-visibility advertisement, Cypress College underscored its mission to provide quality education and foster a welcoming environment for all students. The strategic ad placement during the Super Bowl weekend was a calculated move to attract new students and showcase the college’s commitment to excellence.
As Cypress College continues to grow and evolve, Posner said he wants students to know that we take this journey together–especially during this difficult time we’re witnessing now–and that the advertisement serves as a testament to the dedication faculty and staff have for student success and community engagement. Students and families are encouraged to explore the myriad opportunities that await them at Cypress College.
