Cypress College is looking forward to students joining in the various events planned for Black History Month, beginning Feb. 1, 2023.
This Black History Month Celebration will shed light on STEM, Mortuary Science, and selective CTE programs at Cypress.
Throughout the month, Cypress College is set to hold four events showcasing Black Professionals and their educational and career experiences in each of the above fields.
The opening day event will take place on Feb. 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. The event highlighting nursing, computer science and mortuary science majors will include breakout rooms for each major and keynote speaker, Kenneth Sparks. On Feb. 9, 2023 professional chemists and engineers will gather in the S.E.M. Planetarium from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. for the “Blacks in Stem” event.
Two weeks later, on Feb. 21st, the Day of Expression event will follow the celebration of Mardi Gras starting at 12:00 p.m. The fashion show focusing on the Black Panther’s makeup and attire will welcome artists, poets, musicians and more.
The final event Cypress College is hosting will take place on Feb. 22, 2023. The “Race and Reparations” virtual event will be a discussion led by LA Communist, Metro Erika D.
