On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Foreign Language Department will host Cypress College’s 4th Annual International Cultural Festival.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by the north side of the FASS building towards the Humanities building. It will follow after the Great Shake Out all-clear. Students and faculty will be able to gather together and present many foods and traditions from around the world. The clubs and programs on campus that will participate include the Filipino and Culture Club, the Puente Program, Rising Scholars, APIDA, Legacy Program, and more.
“I wanted all the programs and student clubs there to see our differences and appreciate them,” said Mihoko Terada Luther, the organizer of the festival.
The event will include various international cuisine, cultural presentations, music, and performances. Some of the things included are a brief introduction to Vietnamese Culture and Calligraphy, Japanese cooking demonstration tables, a Filipino cultural dance, and many more. It will also showcase a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., highlighting many Latin and Hispanic cultures.
Students and faculty are encouraged to come together to visit the stations and participate in the activities during the event. The festival will help emphasize and celebrate the importance of diversity on campus.
