Cypress College students are beginning the fall 2026 semester this week, with Associated Students hosting a Welcome Back Event today to introduce students to campus resources, programs and opportunities.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in front of the Student Life and Leadership building. Students can visit various stations throughout the event to learn more about resources available to them throughout the semester.
David Okawa, director of Student Life and Leadership and Associated Students adviser, said the event is intended to help students become familiar with resources they may not otherwise know about.
“We were hoping that if you weren’t aware of some kind of student resource that you can take advantage of, you get at least to see it,” Okawa said.
For students still becoming familiar with campus, knowing where to find key buildings and services can make navigating the semester easier. The Learning Resource Center, SEM building, Business building, Technical Education Building, Student Center and the new VAPA building are among the locations students may visit for academic, personal and campus support. The Learning Resource Center also provides students with a place to study, offering a quiet environment, access to technology and tutoring resources.
Students looking for food or drinks between classes have several options on campus. The Charger Cafe, located on the first floor of the Student Center, has welcomed a new cafeteria vendor. Cypresso Cafe, located next to the Student Shop, has also introduced its fall drink menu, which is available through its social media account, @cypresso_cafe.
Getting involved outside the classroom is another way students can become connected to the Cypress College community. Clubs, sports and campus programs provide opportunities for students to meet others and participate in activities throughout the semester.
Club Rush is scheduled for Sept. 8 and 9, giving students an opportunity to explore campus clubs and find organizations that match their interests.
Students should also be aware of upcoming registration and parking deadlines. Sept. 7 is the final day to register for and drop classes. Beginning the same day, students must have a registered parking permit to park on campus. Semester permits cost $40, while motorcycle permits cost $20.
