Feb. 11, 2015- Cypress Chargers Baseball opened their field to the visiting Moorpark Raiders yesterday afternoon. After a slow start, Moorpark came out on top, clenching the game at 10-4.
Raiders were first on the board with a run in the top of the third and continued to dominate offensively in the fourth and fifth innings. Raiders Dalton Duarte hit two home runs, one in the top of the sixth, the other in the top of the seventh.
With the score 9-0 in favor of the visiting team, Chargers rallied in the bottom of the seventh with three runs. Number 21, Brandon Brintz, hit a two RBI double deep to right field and scored a run after number 15, John Santospago, hit a RBI single to left field. The rally was too late and not enough for the Chargers to surpass the nine run difference and the Raiders left with a 10-4 victory. Cypress number 23, Nathan Kuchta, said of the game, “We came out a little flat to start out the game, but just didn’t have our best stuff today.”
Cypress has a current record of 6-1, as compared to Moorpark’s 5-2 record. The Cypress Chargers will continue their homestand this Fri. 13th at 2:00 pm and again on Sat. 14th first pitch at 12:00pm against the Merced Blue Devils hoping to change stride.
