Jonas Brothers pop group, Joe, Nick and Kevin, performed at Dodgers Stadium on Sept. 9 in Los Angeles as a part of their “5 Albums One Night: The World Tour”.
The stadium was packed with about 50,000 fans. Each fan lit up the venue with their excitement to see their childhood band perform new and old songs.
The group officially announced their reunion after a five-year break in Feb. 2019 with the album Happiness Begins. Following these projects was their fifth album named “The Album ”. This musical project came with the announcement of their 10th concert tour.
The concert at Dodgers Stadium was opened by duo group Lawrence. The brothers then came on stage, kicking off the show with “Celebrate” followed by over 65 songs from their whole discography.
Growing up, I did not listen to the Jonas Brothers. When they reunited in 2019, I was excited because the Happiness Begins album was being released and I loved every single song. I begged my mom to take me to the tour, but ended up not going. Four years later last weekend, my friend Dana Nietes and I sang our hearts out to the songs we knew in the 100’s section.
Right before the group played Hesitate, a song dedicated to Sophie Turner, Joe broke silence about recent rumors regarding his and Turner’s divorce. “It’s been a crazy week. I just wanna say look, if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it, okay?” Joe said, indirectly speaking about the divorce.
You could hear the crowd cheer and gasp, but I was too stunned to speak and looked over at Nietes, screaming at her in disbelief. She could tell I was shocked and recorded my reaction to the statement. The divorce news was so fresh that I didn’t think Joe would speak on it.
Personally, I only knew a few songs from their first three albums performed, but when it came to the songs I did know including “Year 3000”, “Burnin Up”, ‘Lovebug”, “SOS”, and “Play My Music” from Camp Rock, I jumped up and down with the rest of the crowd.
My favorite song performed was “Burnin’ Up” because Nick sang his iconic lyric “red dress.” Nick is known to pick and choose when to sing that lyric, it became obvious that fans enjoy the way he sang it when they first released the song so when he sings it that way it makes the crowd go wild. The lyric is so beloved it even influences fans to show up in red dresses to the concert. The band also brought out their former bodyguard, Robert Feggans, known as Big Rob to sing his legendary rap verse.
There was so much nostalgia built up and released as soon as they played each song from the Happiness Begins album. I was ecstatic hearing each song especially because these songs mean more to me. The concert ended with thousands of full hearts and was an experience everyone should get to have at least once in their life.
